Those Know It Alls

If you talk to enough people who agree about something you can talk yourself into or out of anything. Have you ever found that you have gone out with a group of colleagues or friends and a topic came up like whether the Iraq war was the right thing to do or maybe something a little less controversial
like whether a certain celebrity’s new hairstyle looked good and because most of the people (if not all) of the group are of a certain view, you tend to follow suit and agree I bet if you think about the people you spend the most time with out of your own free will, they probably hold similar opinions to you about a lot of things….and maybe that even extends to habits like smoking. Now I know you have had this moment, and probably more than once, when you realised you wanted to do something with your life, make a change, try something different or whatever and known that this would cause conflict with one or more people around you. I had this moment today and although it is a lot rarer these days than a couple of years ago because I actively changed who I spent most of my time around both in work and play, it still gets to you. Especially when it is people who I do care for on some level but appreciate that if I spend anything other than small amounts of time here and there with them I will fail! Sounds harsh doesn’t it but like someone said to me today even if you are on the right track and you stand still or someone stops you, you will still get run over. I thought that was a pretty clever quote actually. Anyway back to the day, I really wanted to make some good progress with this book I am writing and while I am passed half way now which is great, I decided that I have so many other projects on at the moment that I am not spending enough time on it and it is stalling. So I am searching for a ghost writer to finish the book for me. Now I went to this amazing seminar a couple of weeks ago and one of the speakers was this Chinese Australian, Tom Hua, who had immigrated here in the early 90s with no money and is now a global multi-millionaire and author of hundreds of books…none of which he wrote himself!! What a story! I was inspired to say the least. I was catching up with a few high school people who I hadn’t seen in a while for dinner and a few of them had heard of the grapevine that I was writing a book and most knew of my plans to be fully retired relatively soon. I know while many of them were probably were impressed with a lot of the progress I had made so far in this journey, they were sceptical that I would reach this target in 4 years like I have planned. Well I was explaining to them about this business called elance that I had heard about in the seminar, which helps you find ghost writers for your project at no cost and that I had actually found this Native American

If it wasn’t the ones that were openly negative, then it was the others that from their tones and expressions who were probably thinking ‘here we go again’. The funny thing is that when you ask them about how their lives are going, they are complaining for one, and more particularly about their jobs, managers, bills, etc. and it was these things that I am trying to avoid as problems by doing what I am doing!! Ironic huh Thank goodness I am spending tomorrow with what I call my “A-List”. These are the sorts of people who not only make you feel good all the time when you are around them but also seem to pump 2 Litres of Red Bull into your veins because you have so much energy!!
